Mercedes-Benz Australia has recalled six examples of the S-Class, due to a fault which can cause the luxury sedan to catch fire.
“Due to a software issue in the Engine Control Unit (ECU), the main wiring harness may become exposed to increased engine temperatures and become damaged,” the company says in its recall notice.
“As a result, the vehicle may experience loss of propulsion whilst driving. In addition, electrical resistance in the wiring could lead to a vehicle fire.
“A loss of propulsion whilst driving and/or a vehicle fire could increase the risk of an accident causing injury or death to vehicle occupants, other road users, bystanders, and/or damage to property.”
