2025 Skoda Kodiaq RS: Sporty next-gen seven-seat SUV spied

[ad_1]

The second iteration of Skoda’s Kodiaq RS performance SUV has been spied in minimal camouflage, showing off subtle exterior styling which aligns it with the new-generation model.

Cutting laps ahead of a 2025 launch, the quicker seven-seat flagship comes with partially-hidden wide front air intakes both central and side, while Skoda has also gone to the effort of taping up a modified rear bumper.

Details remain under wraps, but Skoda Australia has indicated the next-generation Kodiaq RS should arrive mid-2025.

All versions of the second-generation Kodiaq wear split horizontal headlights, wraparound front air intakes and a car-width rear light bar.

Decorative angular exhaust outlets feature under each side of the rear bumper, while the bonnet is heavily sculpted.

Under the bonnet, it’s likely the top-spec RS will use the 195kW/400Nm 2.0-litre four-cylinder petrol engine and all-wheel drive system from the upcoming Superb Sportline, which will also power high-spec versions of the new Volkswagen Tiguan.

That would represent a 15kW/30Nm bump over the current Kodiaq RS, and up 19kW but down 100Nm on the pre-facelift turbo-diesel model.

Like the outgoing model, the new Kodiaq range will launch with a petrol-only lineup in Australia. A seven-speed DSG and all-wheel drive will feature across the launch lineup.

CarExpert understands direct successors to the existing Style and Sportline will land first in early 2025, with the RS to follow mid-year.

Measuring 4758mm long, 1864mm wide, 1659mm tall, and riding on a 2791mm wheelbase, the new Kodiaq is 61mm longer, 18mm narrower, and 17mm taller than the original.

Standard equipment hasn’t yet been confirmed, but the lower Sportline trim is likely to offer a 13-inch touchscreen infotainment display, 10-inch igital instrument cluster, wireless smartphone mirroring, electric seat adjustment, a power tailgate, and matrix LED headlights.
